Worry Worms in the Worry Jar

So this is another great activity for the worries! With some of my clients we are working through the “Worry Wars” book (which is awesome) and we make these!

1) Items needed: an empty and cleaned out Peanut Butter or Mayonaise Jar (or something similar), Gummy Worms or Sour Worms, A Permanent Marker, Art Supplies

2) Have the child share their worries and write them on the worms. Every time they share a worry they get to eat a worm which is my added bonus and motivation for some kids! As they share their worries they put them in the jar and seal them so the worries are out of them and stored away.

3) Have the child decorate the outside or top of the jar with things that help them with their worries, coping skills, things that make them happy, etc.

4) Discussion about their worries being out of them and stored away and the things that help them with their worries on the outside of the jar reminds them of how to manage their worries!
